Success Stories: Ronen Dashevsky

Name: Ronen Dashevsky

My area of expertise: Handmade weaving, tallitot and Judaica.

A little about myself:

Forty-nine years old. Born in Beersheva. Multidisciplinary artist. From a bereaved family, I lost a brother in the army when I was about ten years old. In my youth I became attached to oil painting, and later I studied silversmithing and hand weaving. I like to work with wood and an airbrush. I married Yiska, who herself is a multidisciplinary artist and interior designer.

After years of living in Safed, we returned to Beit Shemesh. I worked for three years in a weaving business in the Old City of Jerusalem, where I developed my unique weaving method.

At the beginning of COVID-19, I stopped working in Jerusalem, and after great effort and my wife’s unwavering support, and with G-d’s help, our weaving business, called Tabernacle Weaving, was launched into the complex reality of the Corona period. My first encounter with Lema'an Achai:

We were introduced to Lema'an Achai not long after we got married. At first it was assistance in various ways: coupons for food, clothes and shoes for the children, help for the holidays, dental care, professional advice, a huge push to build the business, mine and my wife’s at the same time, purchasing initial equipment for the business, and help advertising in the magazine "Penima".

Lema’an Achai also connected us with a website builder, Liora Ritz, who built the site for us, and maintained it at her own expense for about two years. We also received support for financing summer camps, and more. But the most significant help was the genuine interest in our progress. Lema’an Achai literally 'chased' us to help us achieve financial independence.

Why did I approach Lema’an Achai in the first place?

I came to Lema’an Achai after our young family struggled financially on various levels. My situation affected my family and there was enormous pressure on me, since we were in a rut and unable to make a living.

How did Lema’an Achai help me embark on a new path?

Starting a business with complex logistics like mine was a scary process. Lema’an Achai believed in us, helped in every way, and really believed in us every step of the way, and in fact they still do, until today. Their support took off a lot of pressure, gave us a big boost, and created the opportunity to reap the fruits of our investment. The privilege of selling tallitot to grooms for their wedding and to celebrate them was made possible by the grace of God, thanks to His good emissaries at Lema'an Achai.

Something unique about Lema’an Achai:

They don't give up, they have focus, and look ahead – to help needy families get out of the poverty cycle, they do everything to make it happen.

Tip or advice:

Everyone must believe in themselves, their uniqueness and their abilities. You have to have a lot of patience because everything that is built well takes time, and you need a lot of breathing time. Pray and thank God for every success!

How did Lema’an Achai influence us as a family?

Lema’an Achai gave us a sense of security during tough times. They supported us wholeheartedly, and because they believed in us, they invested in us. This act uplifts the whole family, and it is not a given. Their push for our business to grow and succeed, and for us to have financial security, gave us the constant feeling that there is someone who cares about us. They provided a loving and supportive framework. May our success also be our thanks!
