A unique social service center with an experienced professional staff working hand-in-hand with hundreds of qualified and responsible professional volunteers -- doing what they do best, for chessed.
Our volunteers include professional social workers, attorneys, mental health practitioners, nurses, certified public accountants, physicians and dentists, building tradesmen, mechanics and drivers who represent a diverse spectrum of the Ramat Beit Shemesh community.
Founded in the year 2000, by a group of local residents, Lema'an Achai is rooted in Judaism’s communal responsibility towards charity and chessed. Neighborhood residents care about the needs of their neighbors and translate this caring into concrete actions.

In the past year our organization has seen a dramatic 100% rise in calls for help. We find ourselves forced to either (chas ve’chalilah) turn away families or reduce our level of services. We are turning to you to ask that you listen to the cry of your hungry brothers and sisters in the Holy Land and offer to sponsor one of our programs or just pledge a generous donation to Lema’an Achai so that we may continue in our Holy Work.

Lema'an Achai’s aim is to assist needy families in breaking the cycle of poverty by providing them with the tools they need to cope with their problems, facilitate their growth and lead them to self-sufficiency.
We are mainly a volunteer organization where non-paid volunteers run the majority of programs, occasionally assisted by paid staff members. Our volunteers are specialists in their fields--be it social workers, lawyers or financial advisors--who donate of their time to help others.
With the help of these dedicated volunteers, we develop, evaluate and disseminate programs, all in accordance with Halacha, that foster ethical, social and intellectual development.
We collect donations to keep our projects running, with the majority of funds coming from within the community itself.
Lema'an Achai has developed a unique concept of community service and caring which we hope to only improve upon in the years to come.
