Ad 120

Honoring a Life Through Acts of Chesed

When a loved one passes away, it is natural for family, friends, and community members to feel a deep desire to honor their memory. Am Yisrael has a long and beautiful tradition of channeling that love and loss into mitzvot that bring merit to the niftar (the deceased) and comfort to those left behind.

Why “Ad 120”?

We chose the name Ad 120 to reflect the bracha that each person should live a full life — “until 120 years.” Through this project, we aim to help loved ones celebrate that legacy by continuing the values and kindness of those who have passed on.

The Vision

After a loss, it’s common for friends, neighbors, and colleagues to want to “do something.” Many already participate in the cherished custom of learning Mishnayot in memory of the niftar.
The Ad 120 initiative builds on that same spirit — offering an additional way for everyone to perform acts of Chesed (kindness) in the merit of the departed.

Participants can choose a personal commitment — big or small — that will provide a עליית נשמה to the niftar. Whether it’s saying Tehillim daily, visiting the elderly, volunteering, baking for a neighbor in need, calling someone who’s lonely, or any other act of Chesed, each act becomes a living tribute.

How It Works

  1. Lema’an Achai creates an Ad 120 memorial page dedicated to the individual who has passed away.
  2. Family and friends can select a Chesed from a list of opportunities or initiate one of their own in memory of the niftar.
  3. Those who signed up will be sent a reminder to fulfill their commitments by the Shloshim and a list of the Chesed being done will be shared with the niftar's family.

Let us Know

When someone you know is sitting Shiva please contact ariella@lemaanachai.org so that we can create a page that will allow the niftar's loved ones to channel their compassion into enduring acts of Chesed.
