About US
What Make Us Different?
Many organizations in Israel and around the world "do" chesed, but Lema'an Achai stands out in its unique approach of combining volunteerism with a professional and comprehensive system of financial assistance, programs and community services. In recognition of its great work, Lema'an Achai has received local and national awards for its innovative and effective approach to caring.
Who we are?
Lema'an Achai is a unique social service resource which combines the experience of a small professional staff with the enthusiasm of hundreds of volunteers.
Our volunteers include professional social workers, attorneys, mental health practitioners, nurses, certified public accountants, physicians and dentists, building tradesmen, mechanics and drivers, who represent a diverse spectrum of the Ramat Beit Shemesh community.
What we do?
Lema'an Achai assists families in need and enables them to get back on their feet, becoming financially and socially independent. We provide vital support services, through a combination of professional and volunteer services, which provide direct aid, rehabilitation and empowerment for struggling families.
Why we need you
In recent months, our organization has seen a dramatic 100% rise in calls for help. We find ourselves forced to either turn away families or reduce our level of services. We are turning to you to ask that you listen to the cry of your brothers and sisters in Israel who are experiencing difficulties, and offer to sponsor one of our programs or pledge a generous donation to Lema'an Achai so that we can continue our vital work.
Mission statement
Lema'an Achai's aim is to assist needy families in Ramat Beit Shemesh in breaking the cycle of poverty by providing them with the tools they need to cope with their problems. We facilitate their growth and lead them towards self-sufficiency.
We rely on the support of over 500 unpaid volunteers who run the majority of our programs. Many are specialists in their fields, including social workers, lawyers or financial advisors, who donate their free time to help others.
